“Often when you think you’re at the end of something, you’re at the beginning of something else!”  – C Rogers

‘Transition’ is an in-between state. In Architecture, it is the connecting space between two spaces. These spaces allow us to take time to explore and understand change. Our lives are incomplete without these spaces. Often, we see this as a calm and neutral zone between where we are and where we want to be. Spiritually a transitional space is a space of experiencing between the inner and outer worlds, an area where illusions exist!

Transitional spaces have been celebrated through time. The ghats are a transition between land and water! Our amazing courtyards, corridors, doorways and terraces are a transition between two spaces. Often these spaces are even more beautiful and captivating than the main space, just as the light between night and day (dawn) is more enchanting.

Our show celebrates these spaces, whether you look at it in terms of structure, emotion or a state of being. Can a physical and emotional transition concur? Are physical spaces designed for us to transition emotionally or mentally? How can a space change us? Are we always changing or are the spaces changing?

We have invited artists, sculptors, architects, interior designers and product designers to work together to celebrate transitional spaces, as we create them both physically and emotionally. Collaboration is an important element of this change. We believe this is the beginning of something new.
