The articulation of idea to form, transference of thought to paper; the mere act of drawing is perhaps the most ubiquitous link between art and architecture. The line in drawing functions as a democratic element often surfacing from within a collective imagination or transpiring as a concerted act of poetic genius. Coalesced into dialectical tensions on one hand, on the other, it explores the potentiality of exemption.
CONNECTING LINES is an exposition of the definitive art of five distinguished architects –
BRINDA SOMAYA, GAUTAM BHATIA, MARTAND KHOSLA, RAJEEV KATHPALIA and ROHIT RAJ MEHNDIRATTA.
As the title suggests, the expression of their concerns manifests as lines pulled across paper, sculpted into structures and even layered one atop the other, all representative of connections to the private and professional inquiries of each participant. Classified into three broad sections each, the works imply an inherent posture towards Architecture as Architecture, Architecture as Art and Art as Art.
