Breath of Art
January 16, 2020 - February 20, 2020
Nivasa Contemporary in collaboration with Art Pilgrim Live presents Breath of Art, a collaborative show that celebrates art and its ability to CONNECT. The show looks at re-energizing a space with art that inspires, changes, and forces you to think. Nivasa Contemporary provides an ideal backdrop for the show that will be held at their premises. The collaborative show will showcase the artworks of 20 artists who work across varied mediums, from oils and acrylics on canvas to water colours, mixed media, bronze, and wood sculptures. The show is a visual odyssey which follows a rare presentation approach – taking art down the gallery walls, and integrating it into an experience that gives you the feel of art displayed at home. Join us in enjoying an area that has taken a Breath of Art!
Neither art nor design is complete without the other. Breath of Art will showcase artworks by emerging artists, mid-career artists, as well as established artists. Artists like Paresh Maity and T Vaikuntam display works that are vibrant, with strong lines, works that capture life with a distinct artist signature and style. In contrast, emerging artists like Deepak Kumar and Bharat Dodiya experiment with materials creating works with a strong social message around the environment and nature an area that is becoming an increasing area of concern.
Participating artists also include Padma Shri Professor Biman Bihar Das who is a sculptor extraordinaire, Lalit Kala Akademi Award winner Arun Pandit who hails from Bihar, Lorenzo award winning Indian sculptor Dimpy Menon, Indore-based visual artist and ceramic expert Mudita Bhandari, Mumbai-based sculptor Sukan Raj Chauhan who works using wooden blocks and metal, Gujarat-based illustrator Bharat Dodiya, Odisha-based artist Gopal Samantray, Hyderabad-based sculptor Srinivas Reddy, Bangalore-based artist and muralist Gurudas Shenoy, contemporary abstract artist Gurmeet Marwah, the rising star of Indian contemporary art circles, Praveen Kumar, Delhi-based sculptor and architect Gautam Bhatia, Delhi based Siddharth working with natural pigments, Pune-based ceramic artist Ruby Jhunjhunwala, Delhi-based Kirigami artist Vanshika Rathi, award-winning painter Shrikant Kadam and Hyderabad-based artist DVS Krishna, and award-winning painter Shrikant Kadam.
Saba Kapoor, Founder at Nivasa Contemporary shares her thoughts that bear the genesis of Breath of Art, “Art is the most intense mode of individualism known to mankind. Art choices are highly personal, and therefore, each art piece narrates a story –about the work and its simplicity or complexities, about the artist, and about the buyer. It is art which lends your house your individuality and your personal touch, and takes your guests through a visual journey of the space you call home. It creates a deeper connect through its beauty, warmth of colours, and its ability to stir emotion.”
Gayatri Singh, Curator and Founder, Art Pilgrim Live, says, “Art brings a space together – changing it from being merely functional to one with a personality, one with a soul. Good art makes a good home. It does not have to be expensive, but needs to show what you identify with. It is your space, it is you. Own it!”
Come re-jig your idea of seeing art on the walls, and instead see sculptures on tables and pedestals; smaller paintings on easels and some even leaning against walls.
“Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness!”
