Anoop Pandey is an artist who has a remarkable feel for colours. He handles shades of pink, green, yellow, orange, magenta and ochre with remarkable success. His deft handling of forms and distortios in figures is depply rooted in his sound grounding in realist drawing, portraiture and watercolours, which often emerges as startling features in a numbers of his works. He has been able to evolve a style that draws inspiration from very different sources: realist masters, folk traditions and graffiti, all of which blend into a complex expressionist treatment. His compositions are conceived in the Asiatic tradition with many centered spaces, building up a visual cosmos of activity that creates its own internal narrative. At the same time he is capable of painting eye-catching portraits with a complex narrative that is internal to his images. These qualities in an artist born in Tatanagar in jharkhand in 1986 and schooled in Khairagarh in Chattisgarh, are all the more remarkable, but then one realize it is precisely this environment that has channelled his creativity along this orignal path. Anoop has received awards from South Central Zone in 2007,Camlin 2007, Raipur 2005, Shruti,(Jharkhand) 2003, Kala Parishad (Jharkhand) 2003, Kalavant, Ujjain 2005, Khairagarh 2005.
